How to Find Wholesale Fabric

422e32ddcafe1927489a815b4120019c_fptxI was like a sleuth. I uploaded the jpg file that listed all the vendors going to the Chicago Merchandise Mart Fabric and Trim Show in November 2012 and then started going down the list looking on google for each company’s online profile. I was really looking for someone with an online presence so I could view fabric swatches online or look at pdf’s that could be emailed. As I managed to make my way down the list, I discovered a great new site online as well as a storefront in Chicago for wholesale fabrics.

When inquiring through their website,, they respond promptly and courteously.  Diana and Jay have years of experience in the fabric industry and together have opened a new storefront in Chicago on 2256 West Grand Av. with all their connections and resources.IMG_20121120_131922 The concept of their storefront is really ingenious and original and solves sourcing problems that designers like myself face daily.

Here’s how it works. They have hundreds upon thousands of fabric swatch cards to choose that vary in price from $3/yd to $35/yd. The pricing is wholesale so there is no comparison with retail fabric sourcing. The only parameter to meet is a 10 yard minimum. And with most designers, we want at least 10 yards for any project. It really is a win win scenario: good economics for independent designers and great connections in Chicago who can source a wide range of fabric needs.

Their selection is quite extraordinary. Everything from suede to bridal to wool fleece and cotton organic knits. You won’t be disappointed!

Basically you place the order, it ships and arrives in 3 days. Boom, its that easy.
